Dance Fusion NW offers a diverse range of styles & classes including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Theater, Acro and Fitness
Ballet is a classical dance form characterized by light, graceful, fluid movements using highly formalized, set steps and positions. An artistic dance style that provides the foundation and technique necessary for many other dance forms. Characterized by grace and precision of movement, this classical art form is wonderful training for poise, beauty and strength and a must for all students serious about learning to dance.
Explosive, rhythmic, fast and fun – Tap uses the sound of the shoe hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. Excellent for coordination, rhythm and musicality.
Fun & funky – full of leaps and turns – the qualities of Jazz dance include body isolations, low center of gravity, high energy and style with a firm foundation in ballet technique. Our classes are frequently infused with a combination of styles that range from Classical to Theatrical, Funky to Modern.
Fluid, musically inspired movement combining elements of the Modern, Ballet and Jazz dance mediums. Contemporary dance encourages natural, spontaneous movement and personal interpretation while Lyrical combines Jazz and Ballet movement with choreography inspired by the lyrics of the music. Both are wonderful for encouraging self-expression and awareness of space and body.
Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. Our Hip Hop program includes funky, hard-hitting street styles as well as softer lyrical styles. Positive, energetic, edgy, creative and age appropriate.
This course highlights theatre fundamentals including but not limited to; physical interpretation of a role, theatre history, stage presence and technique, and audition boot-camp. Students should expect to learn about the body as an instrument, storytelling, relaxation, breath-support, as well as casting and audition preparation. Acting Only will also focus on scene study, cold reading and on-camera work. This is an introductory course appropriate for any skill, proficiency or experience level.
Acting Plus expands on the Acting Only classes to incorporate acting, singing and some dance for a well-rounded musical theater experience.
Acro is especially challenging as it requires students to be trained in both dance and acrobatic skills. Our Acro classes guide students through tumbling basics from beginning to advanced levels in a mat format. With professional instruction in a safe environment, Acro is excellent for stretch, flexibility, stamina and strength.
Our Tiny Tappers classes are fun-filled introductions to dance that incorporate tap, hip hop, rhythm & balance games, ballet basics, storytelling and singing. Our Petite Primas program offers our littlest ballerinas a professional yet joyful introduction to the world of ballet. And, our youth Combo classes combine Tap & Jazz basics in one action-packed hour. Fun and educational at the same time, our youth classes lay the foundation for a lifetime of dance arts appreciation and joy.
